This includes the BAFTAs, Bombay Bicycle Club’s roof top gigs as Shoreditch House’s resident event photographer and clients such as Elle and Harpers Bazaar, while also building up beautiful family and portrait shoots. All of this has allowed her to combine these different worlds to create the perfect chemical equation to become, what is known in the business, a ‘banging’ wedding photographer.

“I love to shoot weddings,” describes Natalie. “I love to tell the story of the day with my pictures. I love that every wedding is different, I turn up on the day simply not knowing what to expect but I do know that there will be plenty of inspiration, celebration and new friends to be met. Its quite a buzz capturing a new couple on what is such a joyful and important day of their lives, its an infectious feeling!”

She tends to have a type of couple that is drawn to her and that she tends to be drawn to too, relaxed but creative.

“My ideal couple would be very laid back, with a sense of fun!,” she elaborates. “I love it when couples have had a chance to go through my work and really entrust me with telling the story of their day, no stipulations, no rules, open to trying new things and having faith in my direction.  I love what I do, so it’s not in my nature to disappoint; I always want to shoot the very best images I can of their day, no compromising.”

Sounds good to us. When asked further about her ideal couple Natalie said,  “I’m kind of obsessed with Tudor England, I would love to have shot the wedding of Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn. What a feast for the eyes that would have been!” I mean, we were not expecting that answer, but INTO IT. Also, now wondering what Ann Boleyn would have worn/googling any documentation of that! We already know she loved loved a pearl Alice Band so …

“I shoot mainly reportage with a few posed shots thrown in,” says Natalie of her style. “Essentially, I like to capture smiles, laughs, and genuine interactions. I also love to use interiors and the environment to enhance my images, drawing inspiration from whatever is around me at the time.”

A typical (non lockdown!) day would either be shooting or editing. “I love both parts of the job,” says Natalie. “I normally do my editing with 80s music playing in the background and my daughter pottering around me with her dollies.”

Natalie’s favourite wedding to date is actually one of the first ones she ever shot. A couple called Dave and Anka (pictured below), he was Canadian, she was Hungarian.

“It was so wonderful seeing both cultures come together to celebrate, everyone was so happy! A poignant moment was when their friends all came together to serenade the couple with ‘Is this Love’ by Bob Marley and then there was the Hungarian dancing, I will never forget it!”

We asked her for some tips on getting the most our of your wedding photos and we are enjoying the fact it includes not being super precious about the couples’ input and also booze!

“I would say Relax!  Stress shows in pictures, relax, have faith in your photographer and have a couple of glasses of champagne before your couple shots. Have fun. I always try to chat and share jokes with my couples, it really does break the ice and I always get the best pictures. Share. If you’ve seen a few shots that you love and inspire you, I’m always happy to take guidance for a few shots along those lines, share your ideas with your photographer.
